Be creative has been the best thing for a Year 4 girl who was unable to attend mainstream school due to her frequent dysregulated behaviour. Emma is incredibly compassionate, talented and professional. She connects to the child on a level that most other providers were struggling with. She works tirelessly with the parents to support them with matters related to structure, behaviour expectations and health. Emma not only works with the child on creative projects but also takes her out on trips and excursions to develop her social skills and life skills. Emma provides regular reports to keep the school informed on the progress the child is making, which is invaluable for review meetings that take place with other professionals. We are extremely grateful to Be creative for everything they have done for this pupil and the school.

I like going to Be Creative, it helps me feel calmer and I get to make and create. I love art.
I like it quieter and having time to work out what I need to do. They help me learn new techniques.

Since S has started at be creative she has grown in confidence and willingness to try new things. Being neurodivergent S likes to keep sameness in her life so it is predictable and less anxiety provoking. Initially on starting the sessions she was very nervous and unsure but quickly felt comfortable and really happy with Emma and Richard. They have challenged her and her perspectives which has been tricky for her. However, once she’s overcome the challenge the joy on her face and confidence is testament to, the hard work and dedication that S, Emma and Richard have put in. Thank you for all that you do.

When I come to Be creative I feel safe and happy.
Emma is always happy and makes me feel calm. Sometimes I get scared about trying new things but I know I can make mistakes and it’s okay.
I always look forward to my time at Be creative and the creative fun I have there. I didn’t know how many things I was good at. Even when o feel scared and think I’m going to be rubbish Emma is always reassuring me and helping me find my confidence in my own skills. I will be sad when my sessions end.

Since D has been attending Be creative I’ve noticed a huge difference in his confidence.
I was worried at first that it may be too much and that Ds anxiety wouldn’t allow him to really embrace the sessions.
Emma and Richard put us at ease straight away, having the first session together really helped and now when I drop D off he runs In excited to start his weekly sessions. Every time I collect D he has created something he is so proud of, pushed his boundaries and allowed himself to make mistakes. I truly think what Emma and Richard are doing is priceless. My son has found his voice and gained confidence not only with creativity but in school and at home. He’s more social and more able to use his voice and speak up for what he wants and needs. Every child should have access to a resource like Be Creative it’s a hidden gem.
